Mobile Forensic Nursing Service (ADFN)
Have you experienced sexual or domestic violence and are unsure whether you want to report the incident to the police? The Mobile Forensic Nursing Service provides confidential support, forensic injury documentation and evidence collection.
A specially trained forensic nurse can be called in at hospitals and suitable outpatient institutions. The nurse documents injuries, collects evidence and provides information about further support options.
The service is available to people of all ages and genders, including children and adolescents.
What do the Forensic Nurses offer?
- Examination and evidence collection: Injuries are professionally described and, where necessary, photographed. Evidence may be collected, for example swabs or blood and urine samples.
- Advice and triage: The Forensic Nurses provide information about medical care, support options and next steps. If needed, they can refer you to victim counselling services or other specialist support.
- Training and awareness-raising: The service supports hospitals and institutions through training and information sessions.
Please contact the service as soon as possible. Evidence may be lost over time, especially within the first 72 hours. Even if the incident happened longer ago, you can still seek advice and may still be able to have an examination.
